important features:
- Interactive tree view with website search capability
- Accurate data showing the impact of each tree in improving air quality and reducing carbon emissions.
- Sustainable design allows authorities to track tree data and health.
In line with Saudi Vision 2030 and the “Green Saudi Arabia” initiative, the Madinah Municipality has launched the Smart Tree Map platform, which aims to digitize and document trees and green spaces in the city using the latest smart technologies. The platform provides accurate and up-to-date data on tree locations, types, and their contribution to improving air quality and reducing carbon emissions.
This project goes beyond just applying smart technologies, but rather represents a comprehensive vision to improve the visitor experience and achieves the objectives of the Madinah Municipality strategy and the objectives of Vision 2030 in serving the guests of God, to enhance cultural and religious services to help visitors get the most out of their visit, starting from easy access to information to providing a safe and comfortable environment for this holy place.
In this report, we will discuss in detail the project’s objectives, the challenges faced, and the technical stages followed in its development, in addition to a detailed analysis of its economic, social, and temporal impacts, with a focus on sustainability and the positive impact on the local community. We will also highlight the strategies followed to ensure that these technologies are harmoniously integrated with the historical and religious character of the cemetery.
The field of innovative solutions in the smart municipality is a promising field that aims to bring about a radical transformation in city management and providing services to citizens, taking advantage of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things to transform urban challenges into opportunities for innovation and provide smart services in various fields such as traffic management, waste management, energy saving, air quality monitoring, and providing digital services to citizens, in an effort to improve the quality of life and make cities more sustainable and flexible.
Project 1:
Within the new Medina cleaning projects, mechanisms that operate with artificial intelligence technology to save time and manpower while providing the service. The new cleaning project in Medina represents a model for innovative solutions in the field of smart municipalities, as it relies on dividing work tasks and environmental sanitation into four main geographical axes to raise operational efficiency and increase competitiveness. The project is characterized by the use of modern technology, including digital transformation programs to automatically track mechanisms and equipment used in cleaning work and measure performance indicators to implement operational plans and service paths, which contributes to tightening the process of monitoring cleaning work. In addition, the project includes the use of 546 modern equipment and mechanisms, such as robotic sweepers, compressors, and trucks, to provide waste collection and transportation services with high efficiency. The project aims to continuously develop and improve public cleaning services and keep pace with population growth and urban expansion in Medina.
Project 2:
A smart platform to monitor and address visual distortions using artificial intelligence:
The Municipality of Medina is one of the pioneers in adopting modern technologies to improve the quality of life in cities, and the project to use drones to address visual distortions falls under the umbrella of "Innovative Solutions in the Smart Municipality.". This project aims to address the challenges associated with monitoring and addressing visual distortions in the urban landscape, such as graffiti, distorted posters, illegal advertisements, and others, through the use of autonomous drone technology.
The system used in Madinah, which relies on advanced technologies such as high-resolution aerial photography and image processing using artificial intelligence, is characterized by its scalability and continuous operation around the clock, which contributes to the automatic detection of distortions, their locations with extreme accuracy, and their treatment with high efficiency, without the need for continuous human intervention. This technology is characterized by its ability to improve the urban landscape and increase the quality of the visual environment, which reflects the importance of innovation in enhancing the quality of public life, which is the essence of the concept of the "smart municipality"
Project 3:
Smart Street Lighting Project:
The smart street lighting project in Madinah is considered an innovative model in the field of smart city solutions, as it combines the latest technologies, including the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and big data, to manage and operate the lighting network in the city efficiently and effectively. The project features the installation of more than 82,000 smart control units in street lights, covering 85% of the city's area, allowing remote control of each lamp and continuous monitoring of its performance. The project also relies on artificial intelligence to analyze data and predict faults, which contributes to reducing maintenance costs and improving the speed of response to faults. Thanks to these advanced technologies, the project achieved significant savings in energy consumption and operating costs, in addition to improving the level of safety and quality of life in the city by providing sustainable and reliable lighting at all times.
